Business Conduct

Communities and the public expect Syncrude to conduct our business with the highest ethical standards. This is guided though our Code of Ethics and Business Conduct Policies, which cover such areas as treatment of employees, respect in the workplace, Indigenous engagement, community relations, and health, safety and the environment. Syncrude places tremendous value in how business results are achieved, not just that they are achieved, and our policies guide our actions to ensure responsible development.

Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

All employees are required to review our policies upon hire and every four years thereafter. Employees receive an annual letter from the CEO as a reminder of these policies. All employees also must sign a certification stating they understand the policies – Administrative, Professional and Technical employees certify annually based on their increased exposure to potential external situations and Occupational employees certify every four years.

In addition to internal processes, an external system is in place through EthicsPoint for the anonymous and confidential reporting of concerns about corporate conduct. Employees, contractors and members of the public may file their concerns anonymously and confidentially through EthicsPoint, at or 1-888-493-1866.
