For Aurora Team 503, it turns out the more they give back to their community, the closer they grow as a team.
Last fall, a 503 member floated the idea of supporting a United Way Christmas fundraiser. The team got behind it, big time, raising over $5,300 in the community to deliver some much-needed and appreciated holiday cheer to four Fort McMurray families. Several members even gathered for a gift wrapping party.
Dollars from Haulers was born—and the generosity snowballed from there.
When a team member lost her home to a fire this past spring, Dollars from Haulers leaped into action, raising money, donating clothes and supplies, and doing whatever they could to support their teammate in her family’s time of need.
When one member heard a local woman was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour – the exact same type of tumour he himself battled with only a few years earlier – he rallied the Haulers behind her cause and they raised enough funds to send her to Houston where she could receive specialized treatment.
But that’s not all. Dollars for Haulers are on a roll and there’s seems to be no end to their altruism in sight. In fact, this year, Team 503 has set a goal to support six families this upcoming holiday season.
By rolling up their sleeves and lending a helping hand to friends and neighbours in need, people like the members of Team 503 keep Syncrude moving forward. Together, our nearly 5,000 employees have what it takes for us to succeed.
