Syncrude recognizes Holly Christopher

If you live in Fort McMurray and have children, you may already know Holly Christopher.

If you don’t, those that do will tell you our community is lucky to have her.

She’s the kind of person you meet and instantly know that you’d feel comfortable leaving your children in her care. She’s warm, kindhearted and, as the Senior Director of Child Care at the Northern Alberta YMCA, she has no greater joy than watching children grow and flourish.

It’s a joy that we hope Holly and her team will experience time and again as a result of the support we are proud to provide the daycare. After all, the YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the region. On any given day, there are over 350 children in their programs, giving hundreds of local families the peace of mind to go to work knowing their loved ones are well taken care of.

“Syncrude’s grant has enhanced our program tremendously,” exclaims Holly. “We can fund programs, hire on more staff and also send our staff to different types of training to better educate themselves on working with children. Our Inclusion Program, for example, allows us to hire inclusion workers who can assist us with children with developmental issues.”

“Without partnerships like the one we have with Syncrude, it can be difficult for a nonprofit to provide quality materials and training,” adds Holly. “It’s a complement to our organization that Syncrude has become so invested in us.”

Thanks Holly, we couldn’t be prouder to play a part in the important work you do. Because at Syncrude, we believe in the importance of supporting our neighbours and the little ones who mean the world to them.
