While the majority of Fort McMurray residents have ties to the oil sands industry, not everyone has had the chance to see site up close. We’re hoping to help change that by offering the opportunity to take a virtual tour of several sites, including ours, at this weekend’s Fort McMurray Tourism Spring Show & Market at MacDonald Island Park.
In partnership with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), Syncrude will have the newest in home virtual reality (VR) technology on hand for attendees to try out. This unique experience will take people through various aspects of a mining operation, from ore to oil to reclamation and even our unique Beaver Creek Wood Bison Ranch.
We will also be giving away silicone googles that attendees can take home, download the CAPP VR Tour app and share the experience with family and friends. One lucky person will also win a PlayStation VR bundle.
Dates and times of the Fort McMurray Tourism Spring Show & Market are:
- Friday, April 27 – 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, April 28 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday, April 29 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Syncrude’s booth will be located on the main concourse.
