The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada has announced its 2018 schedule, including the dates and location of the Syncrude Oil Country Championship.
The season will feature 13 official tournaments from May to September with purses of $200,000 for all regular events and a $225,000 purse for the season-ending Freedom 55 Financial Championship. The Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON will be played at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club from July 30 to August 5.
Syncrude is pleased to once again be partnering with the Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) and Edmonton Oilers Alumni to put on the event. Proceeds raised will support the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. In particular, the hospital’s Pediatric Procedure Room which serves people from across northern Alberta, including patients from Fort McMurray who benefit from the specialized care it provides.

Mackenzie Tour players compete to reach the next level in professional golf. The Order of Merit winner will be fully exempt on the Web.com Tour for the following season, with those in second to fifth place earning conditional status. Players numbered two to ten will also earn an exemption into the Final Stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament.
Players will also try to follow in the footsteps of PGA TOUR winners Mackenzie Hughes, Tony Finau and Nick Taylor, along with the rest of the 20 tour alumni who have gone on to earn their PGA TOUR cards. More than 160 Mackenzie Tour players have gone on to earn status on the Web.com Tour, including 72 for the 2018 season.

Mackenzie Tour events also give back to the communities that host them and have raised more than $3.2 million since 2013, including $75,000 for the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation at the 2017 Syncrude Oil Country Championship.
