The familiar phrase “double-double” can now be heard at five locations across Syncrude’s two Fort McMurray sites as March 27 marked the official opening of the newly-renovated cafeteria and dashaways.
The addition of Tim Horton’s, Subway, Pizza 73, Grill & Co. and Entrée offerings across Syncrude’s Mildred Lake and Aurora sites means more variety at for workers at mealtimes.
At the grand opening, Syncrude Managing Director Doreen Cole thanked employees and contractors for providing the feedback on available food service selections and wanting new choices, including these familiar favourites, to help make Syncrude a great place to work. Attendees were also treated to cake and coffee.

Starting last fall, the facilities underwent a number of upgrades with the main cafeteria receiving a major facelift and all other locations getting new menus and a modern look.
“I’m amazed that the team completely renovated five locations across site in six months,” says Prashant Mehta, Manager of Site Services, whose team managed the renovations.
This is something that has the potential to impact everyone in a positive way. It’s a change, and a rebranding of the food we serve at site, that we can all be proud of.
