Syncrude executive dedicated to positively impacting community

Long-time Fort McMurray resident and Syncrude executive, Glen Finnson, is putting his knowledge and vast volunteer experience into supporting a new community organization as a member of its board.

The Wood Buffalo Community Foundation, founded in March 2017, provides financial support to meet the region’s most pressing needs. It plans to bring stability, support and long-term growth to the community by directing grants to where they would make the most impact.

Glen, Syncrude’s Vice President of Safety, Security, Health and Environment, is proud to be a part of the board of directors

“I’m excited to join this organization,” he says. “It’s a way to ensure funds are available to continue to make our communities flourish and grow.”

As a thirty-year Syncrude employee, Glen’s community roots run deep. He and his wife raised two children in Fort McMurray and over the years, has served on many local clubs and committees. These include the Fort McMurray Knights Rugby Football Club, Mantas Swim Club, Ptarmigan Nordic Ski Club, Minor League Baseball and Minor Hockey.

“I have a personal commitment to better the community,” adds Glen. “This place has given so much to me over the years, I can think of no better way to pay it forward and I’m pleased to represent Syncrude.”
