“On behalf of Syncrude, I’d like to thank everyone involved, including our employees who volunteer their time to help others. It’s truly about working together as good neighbours.”

SOS provides programs and services to empower individuals to meet life’s challenges. These include child and youth mentoring, grief and loss support and suicide prevention.

“We are so grateful to Syncrude for choosing SOS as the recipient of $25,000 from the Give with Heart campaign which will support our Grief and Loss program when our community needs it most,” says Alie Warnes, Executive Director, Some Other Solutions.

Syncrude’s Good Neighbours program grants $500 to eligible non-profit organizations when an employee or retiree volunteers at least 40 hours in a year and applies for funding. A total of $270,600 was distributed to 85 organizations in 2015. That included $134,000 going to community groups to help offset the cost of travel to out-of-town events such as sports tournaments. Close to 350 Syncrude employees currently participate in the program.
