Evergreen Theatre is excited to return to schools in Wood Buffalo with a new musical set in Alberta’s own backyard.
Invasion of the Pine Beetles is a fun-filled show about our relationship to the boreal forest that has toured through schools in southern and central Alberta.
“We’re happy to be back in Fort McMurray schools after last year’s successful workshops,” says Sean Fraser, Executive Director of the Calgary-based educational theatre company. “We’re even more excited to see students at 19 different schools where we will be performing.”
The play follows the adventures of two children who find themselves lost in the boreal forest and must find their way home while escaping the villainous Mountain Pine Beetles. Performances start Sept. 15 and run through Sept. 26 at local schools.
“Our theatre company’s focus is exploring science and the environment with students through the performing arts,” Sean says. “We’re so pleased Syncrude could help us bring Invasion of the Pine Beetles to the region where the musical is set.”
