Vote on $10,000 community contribution

Syncrude will donate $10,000 to a local charity and wants help in choosing the worthy cause from people attending Fort McMurray’s Spring Trade Show at MacDonald Island Park.

“People who visit our booth at the trade show cast a vote for the non-profit group of their choice,” says Scott Sullivan, Syncrude’s president and CEO. “The organization with the most votes at the end of the weekend will receive a $10,000 cheque.”

The community groups are the Wood Buffalo Science Fair, KidSport Fort McMurray, Environmental Week Committee and Volunteer Wood Buffalo (FuseSocial).

Syncrude has distributed

$128,000

to 74 non-for profit organizations thanks to syncrude employees and retirees in 2013

“We’ve selected these four from a long list of groups where our employees and retirees volunteer their time,” Scott says. “Syncrude matches those contributions with grants from its Good Neighbours program to help invest in organizations and projects that play such a big role in making our community a better place. Thanks to more than 200 Syncrude employees and retirees who volunteered their time in 2013, we distributed $128,000 to 74 non-profit organizations through this program.”

Syncrude distributes $6 million annually from its Community Investment Program to improve the quality of life in the communities where it operates.
