Syncrude employees raise close to $2.5 million for United Way

Syncrude employees set a record by raising $2.46 million during the 2013 United Way Employee Campaign, surpassing the original goal of $2.013 million. The annual campaign supports the United Way in Fort McMurray, Edmonton and Calgary.

“We wanted to encourage individuals and departments to get involved and make a difference in a way that was special and unique to them,” said Maria McLean, Syncrude’s United Way Employee Campaign 2013 Chair. “As a born-and-raised Fort McMurray resident, it makes me proud to see so many others helping the community become a better home for everyone.”

The record fund-raising total includes a $430,000 donation by Syncrude. Jim Glenen, Vice President – Production – Extraction & Upgrading, thanked employees for surpassing the campaign’s goal.
