Syncrude has agreed to continue as the title sponsor of the Syncrude Boreal Open through 2016.
“Syncrude is proud to support this tournament because it makes Fort McMurray a better, more enjoyable place to live and we wanted to see it continue,” said Scott Sullivan, Syncrude’s president and CEO. “It’s a chance to bring our community together for seven days of fun in the great outdoors with events all over town. It’s a terrific opportunity for people to get involved and see some great golfers. And PGA Canada is a great partner so signing on as a title sponsor for an additional three years wasn’t a difficult decision.”
The 2013 Syncrude Boreal Open tees off on Thursday, July 11 with more than 150 of the top PGA prospects teeing off in the opening round at the Fort McMurray Golf Club. However, activities will start taking place on Monday, July 8. For a full schedule of events, go to the website www.syncrudeborealopen.com.
As with the first two years of the Syncrude Boreal Open, this year’s tournament will benefit KidSport. Established in 2010, KidSport Wood Buffalo raises funds that help remove the financial barriers that prevent youth from participating in organized sport.
“KidSport is a great non-profit organization that helps ensure that all youth in our community can participate in sport by providing financial assistance to youth to play and enjoy the positive benefits of organized sports, such as co-operation, team play and staying healthy through exercise,” Scott said.
