FORT McMURRAY, Alta. – Syncrude joins Wood Buffalo and southern Alberta flooding relief efforts with a $150,000 donation.
One of the hardest-hit organizations in the Wood Buffalo region, the Fort McMurray Historical Society, will receive a $75,000 cash donation to assist with a technical assessment to help preserve our region’s proud history.
“We know many Syncrude employees have opened their homes, hearts and wallets to assist organizations responding to the relief effort,” says Scott Sullivan, Syncrude president and CEO. “We want to follow their lead and support the communities our employees call home.”
Employee donation matching programs will also be put in place to help those affected by the flooding. Syncrude will match employee donations up to $25,000 for the Fort McMurray Historical Society, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association and the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Flood Fund.
Syncrude has been a long-time supporter of community initiatives and programs for northern Alberta residents. In the past five years, Syncrude has invested more than $24 million in a variety of local and Edmonton-based programs.
