Syncrude’s Calgary offices closed June 21st due to state of emergency

Syncrude is telling all employees and contractors working in Calgary offices to stay home for the day, Friday, June 21st.

Most buildings in the downtown core are in lockdown due to the high risk of the Bow River flooding. Calgary emergency officials are encouraging everyone to stay at home even if they do not reside in the flood zone.

The pay for all Syncrude employees will not be affected by this office closure.

All Fort McMurray and Edmonton-based employees/contractors are asked to cancel any travel to Calgary for Monday, June 24th, until we better understand the situation.

Employees can follow www.calgarycitynews.com for updates on the situation. You can also get up-to-the-minute information by following @cityofcalgary and @SyncrudeCanada on Twitter.

At this point, it is not known when employees will be allowed to return to their Calgary offices. We will provide updates as the situation changes.
