Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is looking for a few good women. And Syncrude will sponsor the search for smart, strong and bold females in Wood Buffalo to receive this recognition.
“Syncrude is delighted to sponsor the Women of Inspiration series,” said Kara Flynn, Syncrude’s Vice President for Government and Public Affairs. “Our community has benefited greatly from the contributions made by outstanding women. Syncrude sees a real value in showcasing these role models in our community.”
Each month, a panel of five judges will choose a Women of Inspiration from the list of nominees. Her story and accomplishments will be featured on the Girls Inc. website, social media sites and will be promoted through local media.
The series will culminate in May 2013 during Girls Rights Week, when Girls Inc. will invite the 12 monthly nominees to the Women of Inspiration Gala, where one of them will receive the Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta Woman of Inspiration Award. In addition to the award, a scholarship will be awarded to a first-year female student that is studying in the field of the award’s recipient.
“Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is pleased to acknowledge the amazing women who make the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo a great place to live, work and raise families,” said Ann Dort-MacLean, executive director for Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta. “Today’s Women of Inspiration will be the role models for tomorrow’s Women of Inspiration. They demonstrate to our girls what being strong, smart and bold truly means.”
