FORT Mc MURRAY – The Wall of Celebration, sponsored by Syncrude Canada, located in the Maternity Unit at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, was revealed today to the public in an unveiling ceremony.
The Wall of Celebration is a way for proud parents, family and friends to honour and celebrate a baby by having their name and date of birth permanently placed on the Wall of Celebration. The funds raised from the mural will be used to help meet the needs identified by Alberta Health Services for the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
“Doctors and nurses on average deliver 100 babies per month at the hospital,” says Dan Fouts, Northern Lights Health Foundation Board Chair. The wall has been designed to honour babies and has the ability to be relocated if needed in the future. The babies honored will be able to one day show their children, who will hopefully also be born at this hospital, where their parents name plate is located on the wall.
The Wall of Celebration could not have been possible, without the backing from one of the Northern Lights Health Foundation’s greatest supporters of local health care – Syncrude Canada.
“Helping to ensure good health care is available in the community that our employees call home is important to us,” said Syncrude President and CEO Scott Sullivan.

“That’s why Syncrude looks for opportunities to support the Northern Lights Health Foundation which contributes so much to our community’s quality of life.”
There are various places on the mural to place a name and birthday, but one icon in particular on the mural holds a very special meaning.
“On the wall you will notice there are raindrops,” says Tricia Hewitt, Executive Director, Northern Lights Health Foundation. “These raindrops are very special, because they are reserved for those babies, who have been taken from us too soon, but who are forever in our hearts. These raindrops are a sponsored gift to parents and families.
