Syncrude Boreal Open will benefit KidSport Wood Buffalo

In addition to bringing world-class golf back to Fort McMurray after 20 years, the Syncrude Boreal Open will raise awareness and funds for KidSport Wood Buffalo.

Established in 2010, KidSport Wood Buffalo raises funds that go towards helping to remove the financial barriers that prevent youth from participating in organized sport. By improving access, KidSport helps ensure youth can enjoy the positive benefits of organized sport such as co-operation, team play and staying healthy through exercise.

“We’re very proud to support this event on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour that will showcase all the features that make Fort McMurray a great place to live and raise a family,” said Syncrude President and CEO Scott Sullivan. “Moreover, we’re so pleased the event will also support KidSport, an organization that helps provide enjoyment, fun and exercise for youth in our community.”

“We are thrilled that the Syncrude Boreal Open has selected KidSport to benefit from this event. Our program ensures that all youth, regardless of their financial situation, have the opportunity to participate in sport. The KidSport program has over 175 volunteer run chapters across Canada, and we are very excited to have a new chapter doing great work right here in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo” said Diane Jones Konihowski, CEO of KidSport Canada. “The success of our program relies heavily on the support of the business and local community, and we are very appreciative that Syncrude would see the tremendous benefit of supporting and organization like KidSport”.

The inaugural Syncrude Boreal Open will bring 156 world-class golfers from the Canadian Tour to the Fort McMurray Golf Club this summer from June 21-26th. Visit www.syncrudeborealopen.comfor more information.
