Syncrude earns Alberta Chamber of Resources award
(Fort McMurray, Alberta) – Syncrude Canada Ltd. has been chosen by the Alberta Chamber of Resources (ACR) to receive the Major Reclamation Award 2002 for its leading work on reclamation research. The award will be presented at the Chamber’s annual banquet, January 31.
Independent judging was conducted by experts from Alberta Environment. Syncrude was selected based on reclamation research related to oil sands development. Syncrude manages more than 20 reclamation research test plots at their operations in Fort McMurray. This work has resulted in faster, more cost effective and sustainable land reclamation. Research findings are shared with other oil sands operators through joint initiatives including the Cumulative Environmental Management Association (CEMA) and the Oil Sands Reclamation Research Network.
Syncrude’s partnership in joint research ventures ensures the most important issues are being addressed, and the use of research funds optimized. This partnership also helps speed implementation of successful research results.
